Luxury Collection to debut in Hungary

Özyer Group has announced the signing of an agreement with Marriott International to bring the Luxury Collection brand to Hungary with Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel.

Slated to open in early 2019 as the first Luxury Collection property in Hungary, the hotel will occupy the Matild Place, a neo-baroque building in Budapest on the gateway to the Elisabeth Bridge over the Danube.

It features 130 guestrooms and suites, along with multiple dining venues including the historical Matild Café—the first in the city to open after World War II—as well as a Sky Bar and signature restaurant.

Originally built between 1899 and 1902 by Hungarian-German architect Kálmán Giergl, under the patronage of Princess Clotilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, both the Matild and its sister building, the Klotild Palace, feature large copies of the Archduke’s crown atop their twin towers.
